On a radiant 15th June 2025 at Old Trafford, our phenomenal ambassador, Richard Gadd, graced the colossal Soccer Aid football match. Not only did Richard share the pitch with football legends like Edwin Van Der Sar and Carlos Tevez, but he also found himself in the starting line-up of the Soccer Aid World XI team, alongside stars like Tony Bellew, Tobi Brown, and Noah Beck, among others.
The day was bathed in sunshine, creating an idyllic atmosphere for both players and fans. Among the crowd was a football enthusiast and a dedicated Richard Gadd supporter, our very own CEO, Duncan Craig OBE. Duncan’s cheers echoed throughout the stadium, reaching a crescendo when Richard and his team hoisted the Soccer Aid winners’ cup, following a thrilling 5-4 victory over England.
The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with Richard’s team initially trailing 3-0. The tide turned when Carlos Tevez entered the fray, netting four goals to level the score. Then, in a heart-stopping moment, Big Zuu found the back of the net, clinching the game 5-4.
But the real victory was off the pitch. The match was a fundraiser for UNICEF, a remarkable charity that tirelessly works across 190 countries and territories to protect children’s rights, save their lives, and help them realise their potential. The event was a resounding success, raising an astounding £15,280,163. A day of football, fun, and philanthropy, it was truly a match to remember.
Words from Richard Gadd
‘A whopping £15,280,163 raised for Soccer Aid. One of the greatest privileges of my life doing this. Playing football at Old Trafford alongside the sport’s greatest is a memory I will cherish forever. But the most amazing part was seeing the incredible work UNICEF do on a daily basis in helping children all across the world. If you want to donate, you still can on their website.
An amazing comeback win for the World XI with a 5-4 victory. Carlos Tevez back on his old stomping ground with four on the trot and Big Zuu with the winner at the end. Incredible finish! Big up to the gaffers for putting me in the starting eleven and giving me a good run out. It was the stuff of dreams!’ – Richard Gadd
